What Makes a Meaningful Funeral?
It's not about following a formula. It's about capturing the essence of a person - their personality, their quirks, their passions, the way they made you feel. The memories that make you smile. The moments that mattered.
Maybe your loved one would have wanted tradition - The Lord's Prayer, favourite hymns, everyone in black. Or perhaps they'd prefer bright colors, modern music, and stories that celebrate the joy they brought to the world. Maybe it's a mixture of both.
There's no wrong answer. The right ceremony is the one that feels true to them and brings comfort to you.
How we'll work together
-
Our First Meeting
We'll meet face-to-face, via Zoom or over the phone - whatever feels most comfortable for you. This is an informal conversation where I'll ask about your loved one. What made them unique? What did they love? What would make them laugh? I'll also provide a collection of readings, poems, and music suggestions to spark ideas.
No detail is too small. Sometimes it's the little things - the way they always burnt the toast, their terrible jokes, their devotion to their garden - that bring someone back to life in a ceremony.
-
Creating the Ceremony
I'll take everything you've shared and create a bespoke, personalised script. You'll have the chance to review it, and we'll work together to make sure it feels just right. If something doesn't capture them properly, we'll change it. If there's a memory you'd forgotten to mention, we'll add it in.
-
On the Day
I'll arrive early to ensure everything runs smoothly. I'll liaise with the funeral director and any other suppliers. Then I'll lead the ceremony with warmth, dignity, and poise - creating a space where everyone can grieve, remember, and celebrate.
-
A Keepsake to Cherish
After the ceremony, I'll provide a keepsake script so you can share it with those who couldn't attend, or simply have it to read when you need to feel close to your loved one again.

Types of Ceremonies I Create
-
Traditional Funerals
For families who find comfort in familiar rituals - hymns, prayers, a gentle and respectful tribute, honouring tradition whilst still making it personal. Or families may wish for a mixture of traditional and modern, for example with favourite songs or a photo tribute screen.
-
Celebrations of Life
Whether it's in a hotel, a pub, a garden, or even a canal barge - these ceremonies focus on joy, laughter, and the life that was lived. Photos, music, stories, and perhaps a toast to someone who would have loved bringing everyone together.
-
Direct Cremation Follow-Up
More and more families are choosing direct cremation with a celebration afterward. This gives you the freedom to gather when and where you choose, perhaps in your own home or a favourite location, to share memories in a relaxed, personal way.
-
Green and Natural Burials
For those who cared deeply about the environment, a natural burial can be a beautiful final act. I'll help you create a ceremony that honours both your loved one and their values.
Serving Lancashire and the North West
Based in Chorley with easy access to the motorway network, I can travel throughout Lancashire, Manchester, Merseyside, Yorkshire, and Cumbria. Whether the ceremony is in a crematorium, natural burial ground, a hotel, a community centre, or your own home, I'm here to help.
